As early as a kindergartener in Virginia I knew I wanted to help animals, but it wasn’t until I had the opportunity on a field trip to learn about cow digestion by putting my hand in the cow’s stomach that I knew I was going to be a veterinarian. At that moment I realized the beauty and complexity of living creatures and wanted to dedicate my time and energy to understand and advocate for animals.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine I completed a surgical and internal medicine internship at the University of Florida. Loving Florida, I settled in St. Pete and have been practicing veterinary medicine here for over 10 years. I am excited to be a team member of Central Animal Hospital on Pinellas Point and hope to make a difference in the lives of the animals (and their humans) in this area.
I am passionate about working together with pet owners to ensure that the pets they love receive the best care possible and are always treated with kindness, compassion and respect. To make sure each pet receives quality care I use both a fear free and integrative approach. My professional interests include Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, pain management, ophthalmology and canine fitness (FitPaws).
I live with my wonderful husband, four dogs and cat named Fat Kraken. When not at work I run and train with my high energy Belgian Malinois (Gillie) and Dutch Shepherd (JARVIS) or I’m cuddling with my two spoiled chihuahuas (Shrimp and Coconut). Outside of veterinary medicine I enjoy gardening, and wood and metal working.
